Rylan is developing quite an imagination:) Yesterday he pretended it was my birthday. He went to the living room and said he was getting stuff ready for my birthday then he walked over to "my house" aka my studio and brought with him books that had other toys inside of them and called them presents. He sang me happy birthday and then had me open my presents and then blow out candles on another toy that looked kind of like a cake then he dished up my cake on his train's turn table.

Awhile back I stopped at the nike outlet on the way driving out to work in Olympia. I got an amazing deal on some really cool new running shoes they made a mistake in telling me they were on sale more than they were. I got them for 14.00! Normally 39.99. So when I brought them home to him he said they were cool and I think I probably really reinforced that they were cool  to him as well since I was so proud of myself for the price and they are pretty trendy. Since I got him he calls them his cool shoes all the rest of his shoes just don't compare in coolness. Today he came up to me and whispered out of the blue, "Hey you know what we could call this cool shoes? My super shoes because I can go super fast when I am wearing them!".

Grand pop told me yesterday that he interrupted Rylan when he was telling a story and Rylan said, " Do you want me to tell the story or do you want to tell the story?" Grand pop said he would like to hear him tell the story and he took a breath and looked at him with a cute expression I wish I could describe but lack the words and hopefully will remember later when I re read this, " ok then...(and he continued)

This morning he through away his apple core in the garbage and got upset because he saw something in the can that was plastic. He scolded,"that plastic needs to go in the recycle dad! Mom said so!"

He also said something else funny today already. He was talking about how he is always hungry and that helps him grow up so that he can help me make jewelry - but he can't eat too much food because then he will turn into a monster. Haha I have no idea where he got that but maybe I should try believing that so I can lose some weight! ;)

At Grandma and Grandpa's house in Ellensburg in August

Dad, do you want to draw some arrows?

Today we walked over to one of the restaurants across the street (The Game) and as soon as Rylan got his coloring page/kids menu with crayons he asked Matt if he would like to draw some arrows. Both Matt and I melted because it is one of our inside jokes and now it is kind of like a family joke even though Rylan doesn't know it is a joke. The reason it is a joke is because I am always teasing matt because he draws arrows whenever he doodles. He has been doing it since before I met him. I am sure that when Rylan got something to color at a restaurant before that I have teased Matt and asked if he wanted to draw arrows and that is where Rylan got it from. And then to make the moment even longer and cuter, Matt taught him how to draw an arrow. He did a pretty good first arrow!

Another adorable thing he does when he goes to that restaurant is grabs the wine menu and calls it his menu since it is small like him.

Oh and before we left for the restaurant I put on my sparkle shoes and he asked me if I love them. I told him I do and he said that he likes them too and that whwhen he grows up he wants some just like mine. I tried to explain that they were girl shoes and that when he grows up he won't grow into a girl (I guess I don't really know that) and he just said "mooooom ughhh no I didn't say I want to wear them now just when I get older) he doesn't understand. It's pretty adorable :)

Rylan helped me find my phone charger a few days ago. I told him I was looking for it and he said, " well...let me  help you!....what is it", I described it to him and he said, "where did you have it last?" I told him I had it in my bag that I where when I am out marketing and to that he said, " then what?" I told him that I brought that bag inside from the car and it is no longer in that bag and he said, " the what?!" I told him I looked in the car, I looked around where the bag was inside the house. He kept asking me "then what" until I found it plugged in charging in the bathroom outlet.

Another cute thing he has been persistent on saying is "nog" for knob. At first I didn't want to correct him it sounds so cute. But today I felt it my duty as a Mom to teach him the correct pronunciation and spelling and to my delight he hasn't grasped it yet. I have to get it recorded sometime!

I don't know if I have blogged about this already. But something he says a lot is" I love you all the time". It is the sweetest thing. I think he picked it up from a time when I explained that sometimes I get frustrated with him but I love him all the time no matter what. It makes it even more special when he says it if that is why!

This morning he was at Grandpop's and Nana's because he stayed overnight while Matt and I were at a comedy show he produced called "Labor Pains". I came to get him at 6am and he wasnt awake yet so I just crawled into bed with him and he told me that he missed me so much and loves to snuggle and cuddle and be cozy with me. Such a sweetheart he is!

He has been going potty by himself for a few months now and is doing pretty well not having accidents in bed.

He loves to help with anything and everything. He will help me with carrying laundry upstairs, cooking, throwing away garbage. Anything.

He has such an imagination he plays by himself and talks in different voices the other day his toys couldn't find a parking spot and they were having to drive around and around until they found one!

He pretended he was me yesterday and said " I got to go" and I asked him where he said " I don't know, I just do. I will be back soon love you bye".

He uses his pretend phone to call people. Usually Crystal his friend Jacobs mom for some reason. I think she may be his first crush. He carries on these conversations of " Yes....uh huh....ok....right...well you know that I know that....ok I will....thanks...ya I don't know..." it is just adorable!

He loves to sing especially the Busy Town mysteries song! He get's so excited and screams it at the top of his lungs!

Yesterday I asked Rylan to grab his glass if he would like me to fill it for water for him and he said "But Mom this is not a glass, it's plastic". It seems like he is correcting me all the time now in ways that I didn't know he had the knowledge to do. It's so fun to see him learning so much everyday!

Today I was trying to explain to Rylan how far away his birthday is, he couldn't understand why I told him it is getting close when it is so far away. When I showed him a calendar to try to explain some more he just said, " why don't I figure out how to drive an airplane and so we can get to my birthday faster?!" How cute is that?

Rylan now LOVEs eating edamame. We think just because he can peel the beans out of the pod. He pronounces it so cute! It sounds something like, "ed-eh-mo-maid".

Sunday, April 8, 2012

Yesterday Rylan made up the cutest little scenario! I have never heard him do this in such detail before! He asked me if I could help him find his "guy" for his airplane. (He has an airplane that came with a little man that can fit in the cock pit) He went on explaining to me that "this guy has shoes and legs and showed me what size he was with his hands" I told him I didn't have any idea where his guy was and told him to try and remember the last time he saw him. He said that he couldn't remember the last time he saw him so I said " oh that's a bummer" he said "It is a bummer, I am bummin' out" with a concerned look on his face he picked up his little pretend cell phone. When I asked him what he was doing, he shushed me and told me he is on the phone, (that is what I do to him when I am on the phone exactly!) and then he said, "I am freakin' out...I am just freakin' out so I am callin' some people to help me find my guy, these people can come to my house and help me because I need him to fly this plane.....sigh...I'm just freakin' out here"

It is so fun to see how much his imagination is growing everyday!

Right now Rylan is next to me with his computers pretending to be me. He went and got water when he saw I was drinking water and figured out a creative way of pretending his laptop needed to be charged by hooking up his pen that goes with one of his toys to his laptop (that runs on AA batteries) because he saw that when my computer shut off I plugged in a cord and said my computer ran out of battery and just needed to be charged!

Rylan has been saying that his tummy is crumbling whenever he is hungry for a few months now. I don't want him to stop saying it like that, it's so cute!

Whenever the dvd player is off the tv says "unusable signal" rylan says "musical siginal" so adorable!

Friday, March 23, 2012

Today Matt said something to me from upstairs when I was downstairs and I said, "What did you say?" Rylan ran up to me and told me, "Mom he was prolly just telling you he loves you!"

Awwww this kid is the cutest!

Thursday, March 22, 2012

I just explained to Rylan that my computer was running kind of slow and maybe that is because I need to clear my cache and cookies and he wasn't really listening until he heard the word! He got the cutest look on his face possible and got really close to me and said" Cookies? What? Did you say cookies? What about cookies? Tell me about that!"

hehe what a cutie!

Saturday, March 10, 2012

Tonight Rylan was talking to Daddy and told him that he is going to eat food so he can grow big and strong like Daddy and wear his shirts.

Monday, February 20, 2012

Today was the first time I have really seen Rylan comprehend a tv commercial. It was adorable! He saw a commercial for a restaurant on the water. He turned to me and said "Dinner on the water? That's what we need to do Mom! We need to eat dinner on the water! That's a good idea Mom!"

Saturday, February 4, 2012

Rylan had lot's of fun making Valentine's this year. He cut out the hearts all by himself and peeled all the backs of the stickers no matter how small and tried to write "love" and put the ribbon through the holes for me to tie in a bow.
This morning Grandma and Grandpa Ford had spent the night and so we had a yummy breakfast. Rylan must have smelled what was cooking and ve forgotten how to say "bacon" because he came up to me and said in the sweetest voice he could, "Mom can I have spankin?" We all couldn't believe that he was asking for a spankin' so I said, "Really you want a spankin'? Like this?" and I patted him on the butt. He said "No no no no I want spankin' to eat!". So I said "OH Bacon to eat?" He smiled and said, "Mmhmm Bacon to eat".

Snow and Potty Training Success!

Yesterday is the first time that Rylan has really been able to enjoy playing in snow! It snowed here all day and we got enough to build snowmen. He wasn't as into building snowmen as he was chasing me around throwing snowballs at me with really good aim and quite some force! He must have seen a snowball fight on tv or something because he normally isn't allowed to throw things at people and he knew right away this was ok! We had so much fun!

Potty training has been a looooong process for us. I think maybe we waited a little too long to get really consistent with it because it is alot of work for us too or maybe we just have a really stubborn kid. Any way we have had about a week of success so far!

He has really fallen in love with a show called the Koala Brothers. I already blogged about it I think. Anyway it is a show in Australia or at least we thought it was still on because it has a website. But all we have is one dvd that Rylan wants to watch over and over and over. He has never asked us for anything until he saw the airplane from this show in the little pamphlet that came with the DVD. He said that he wishes that he could have that airplane. And he kept talking about it and looking at it (the pamphlet is all wrinkled and worn now) . He brought with us when we went to Quilcene for Christmas so that he could show everyone. Well finally Matt came up with the idea that we need to take away his privilege of watching Koala Brothers until he started going potty regularly. So we went a couple days with him at home going pants less and he used the potty and got his privilege back and we told him that if he went #2 in the big potty we would get him that airplane. Well that worked! Now we can't find that airplane anywhere because the show is no longer on the air and every place that used to sell it no longer does! I just sent a message to someone on Etsy asking if they could make a custom one out of wood. Fingers are crossed!!

Another show he likes to watch is called "Sid the Science Kid" it's a really cool show all about learning things like scientists. He told me today that he wishes that tv was real and that he could take Sid in the car and get the Koala Brothers so that they could all play together. Awww I wish we had it on video!

New Years

We spent New Years in Graham this year at Aunt Vicki (Mimi's) surprise 50th birthday party! It was so nice of Mimi to let Rylan play with a little winter scene decoration she had up with little ceramic houses and ice skaters ect...Ryln loved it! I asked him what he was doing and he said he was "playing in a snowy winter!" it reminded me of how he kept telling me that it wasn't Christmas yet because it hasn't snowed. Poor kid we didn't get ANY snow here this year!
