Thomas the Train

Christine got Rylan a little Thomas the Train set for the gift exchange and he loves it so much! Thomas comes with us everywhere and when we are home he is constantly driving Thomas on the track. The cutest thing is that a little catalog came with it and Rylan LOVES reading it. He spends hours looking at this little 20 page booklet. There is a page that has all the trains from the show and he has so much fun saying to himself "where's percy go?" ...."there he is!"..."where's james (th) go?" ..."oh there he is yay!"
Christmas is coming and I had so much fun decorating with Rylan! He helped put some lights on a bush outside, he helped put the lights on his little tree and hang ornaments he made on it. And he did the cutest ornament hanging job on the big tree we got. He put them all in the same place and hung the really big ones on branches that now touch the ground because of the wait. He is so proud of himself!

No this way Mama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It started in the car on the way to Trader Joe's to get something yummy to make for breakfast in the morning, Rylan said; "noooo this way Mama!" and pointed the opposite direction of where I turned. I thought it was so cute and I giggled and so did he. But then we got into the store and as I started to go down an isle to get some eggs, Rylan shouted the same thing as he did in the car! I still thought it was cute so I said ok and started the direction he pointed. BUT THEN, he changed directions on me again. I tried to reason with him explaining that we needed to choose a direction so that we could get some eggs for breakfast and he just started to whine and get louder. I tried every distraction I could and he just got louder as we just stood there. I tried telling him that we were going home if he didn't calm himself, and that didn't work so I said,"would you like milk chips and eggs, or do you want to go home" nothing worked. I ended up carrying him out of the store kicking and screaming, then tried talking to him again outside and we still couldn't come to a compromise. SO I ended up telling him that he would have to wait in the car while I got what we needed. He was so upset I thought I could walk away for a few mins and come back and he would be settled down and ready to come back inside. That totally didn't work so I ended up running into the store getting just eggs and going home. This marks the first ever official public tantrum!

Isabelle and Juliette's House!

Yesterday Isabelle watched Rylan while I worked. He went potty in Juliette's potty that sits on top of the real potty! I am so proud. He also got to go to story time about the letter X at the library. Isabelle told me that Juliette and Rylan share so well. If they ever have an issue she will intervene and ask who isn't sharing and either Juliette or Rylan will pipe up and admit it and then share with the other person! At the end of the day they laid down right next to eachother on the couch to watch some sesame street. Isabelle tells me that Juliette actually spooned Rylan! Haha this is so funny because Isabelle and I have plans of them getting married someday ;) But it is a little early!

Thanksgiving!

Rylan had his first Thanksgiving away from me AND his first 4 days away from me ever. I guess it was more like 3 days but it felt like 4! He went to Quilcene for Thanksgiving with Grandma and Grandpa Ford, Daddy at Grandma and Grandpa Ford's place. Sounds like he had alot of fun. We had some snow here and there was more in Quilcene so I was relieved when I heard they made it there ok! When Rylan was here he loved the inch of snow we had. He didn't want to come inside from it until his hands turned into ice cubes and started hurting! Apparently there was too much snow for him in Quilcene. He didn't like it! I guess he said it was yucky and didn't want to go on the sled!

I guess on the ferry ride over, he was looking at the big map on the wall with Daddy pointing out all the letters! Some teenage girls came over and were so impressed with him asking how old he was and saying he is SO smart then they asked if they could take a picture with "the smart kid" hehe that's my boy!

He loved the clock that bongs every hour. I was told he would stop everything whenever he heard it and would run over to it and say "bom, bom, bom..." along with it! I think I will try to find something like that for him for Christmas! It might help him with learning to count and tell time!

Matt said that he wouldn't eat Thanksgiving dinner. He had to force a taste of fruit salad in his mouth for him to try it and of course he loved pumpkin pie. But he wouldn't even eat any turkey when they called it chicken, (he loves chicken!)

When he got home he was so cute gripping onto his new little bus and his Thomas the Train. When he said bye to G&G Ford he kissed his toys in his hands instead of his hands to blow them kisses goodbye! I wish I had a video of that, it was SO CUTE!

I swear in just 3 days he changed so much! He is even imitating sentences MORE and he looked like he grew into looking even MORE like a little man!

I have been bad at recording all the millions of cutie-pie things Rylan has been doing every second and I feel awful so this time I am going to really try and keep it up from now on!

He has been talking so much! Really putting sentences together and repeating so many words! I think my favorites right now are: "thomasdatwain" aka Thomas the Train and "cozy".

He tries to sing a long and dance to music in the car and sometimes he will even make a percussion noise to go with the beat - so cute. Yesterday he surprised me and sang the words to twinkle twinkle little star with me!

He went #1 in the potty for the first time a couple weeks ago (nothing since) but still a good start!

Trick or Treating with our little elmo was so fun! It took a bit for him to figure out he needed to ring the doorbell when we got to a new door but he figured out how to grab candy and put it in his bucket right away. We had to stop him from taking too many every time! When people would come to the door he wouldn't say anything, he would just take his candy then stand and stare...a few times he did say bye though. His first taste of non healthy candy was junior mints.

Bye, see you soon!

Today when Rylan and I went upstairs to tell Matt "bye" before we went to the store. Rylan very clearly waved and then said, "Bye, see you soon!" that is the longest sentence yet!

And then when we came back and I was walking with him up to the front door he was babbling and pointing at things, so I said "oh tree?" and he pointed up at a tree! I am so amazed at how much he knows that we don't know he knows!

Daddy is back from utah!

Yesterday Rylan helped me bake some banana bread (with no sugar and coconut oil instead of butter or veg. oil). He sat on a stool and mashed the bananas, stirred and added measured cups of flour and baking soda. He was so proud of himself. And the bread actually turned out pretty good!

Then I showed him how I cut potatoes and put them in the steamer. After I turned on the steamer I told him the potatoes are cooking now. Hours later I cleaned the steamer for some beets. When I turned on the steamer again he came running over and pointed at it saying "cooking!" I wish I could write it the way it sounds! He says it so cute and jumbled!

Yesterday Matt brought back a teddy bear for Rylan from Utah that he fell asleep with almost as soon as we got back into the car after picking Matt up from the airport. It is so cute how he hugs and snuggles it! Today I took off his shirt and he said "off" then he pointed at the bear (that has a shirt) and told me "off, off!"

Then this morning Matt tickled me and Rylan started tickling me and did the cutest thing with his tongue. He would tickle and stick his little tongue in and out with the movement of his tickle fingers! We need to get a video of that!

Matt made eggs with brocolli and cauliflower for breakfast. It was so good that Rylan actually ate some brocolli and cauliflower for the first time! And while we were eating I got a piece of it stuck on the outside of my mouth, Rylan kept saying "uck, uck" and trying to touch my face and then touch his mouth. It took me awhile to figure out what he was trying to tell me!

Later he pointed at the fan and said "hot", I told him "no it is cold" and he said "cole" and pointed to another fan and another one (we have 3 fans in our room right now!) saying it over and over!

Picked out my new shoes!

Today Rylan and I went shopping at Ross and he was so cute about so many things!

When we first walked over to the shoe aisle rylan excitedly shouted "shoes, shoes, shoes, shoes!" and held up his hands!

When I was trying on shoes he started getting really upset screaming "no mommy, no mommy" and then when I would put back on my shoes he would smile. At first I thought that he just knows my shoes to be the right ones for me to wear because he got upset about 3 pairs of shoes I tried on. Then I tried on a sparkly black pair (that I ended up getting) and he smiled. He actually helped me pick out my shoes today!

Then when I took him over to find him shoes he was not happy with any pair except some that looked exactly like a pair that was his first pair (of real shoes). Amazing that he remembered them!

We went to the purse aisle and he grabbed for one of the alarm tags on a purse (those bigger ones that that are black and plastic and they have to remove with a special tool during checkout) and he held it up to his ear and said "helwo" and babbled like he does when he talks on a real phone!

Later we went to Cousin David's wedding and on the way home from it he sang in the car and out of the blue started to sing the ABC's "a, e , i , u, o" to the correct tune.

For a few days he has been saying "hug" when he wants to be picked up and hugged. Yesterday he actually came up while I was stressed and busy making jewelry for the market and said "hug" "hi" and just patted me and held me. He could sense I was stressed!

Rylan said "Rylan"

Today was another big day for Rylan! In the morning he randomly pointed at my phone and perfectly pronounced "phone"!

And then in the afternoon Nana and Grandpa had him at their house because I was in the Kirkland Wednesday Market and he said "ball" and then plopped down on the lovesack and said "on tv". I am so amazed that he said that since he hasn't seen much tv for about 6 months. We don't have a tv downstairs right now, only upstairs. We spend most of our time downstairs so we end up not seeing as much tv.

Then he figured out how to climb up onto Nana and Grandpa's stool and when Uncle Forest and Aunt Debbie came over, Debbie took a video of him on her phone and when she replayed it back to him he said "rylan"!

Nana told me that he burped and she said "burp?" and he tried to burp again 2 more times haha!

Grandpa told him rocky rocky on the rocking chair when he was sitting on one. Then he repeated back, "rocky".

Uh oh all wet!

Today Rylan came in from playing outside and said "Uh oh ahmahwet" and pointed to his paints and shirt. He was trying to say, "Uh oh I'm all wet"!!!! He had dumped out a bucket of rainwater all over himself and wanted to put some dry clothes on! Awww it was adorable to see his proud face when he realized that I understood what he was trying to tell me!

Future Roller Coaster Lover!

Yesterday we took a walk over to brown bag for brunch and all the way there Rylan would anticipate any small hills or bumps and squeal/giggle and throw his hands up in the air like people do on roller coasters. It was sooooo cute and we have no idea where he got it from!

Saturday, July 31, 2010

This afternoon Matt went to get Rylan from his nap, (usually I do that) and as soon as he walked in the room Rylan said "oh no" and laid back down covering himself with his blanket (earlier Matt had been in his room to tell him to go night night because he was awake making noise when he should have been asleep) then when Matt reached for him he said "no mommy" haha he thought he was in trouble or something!

Yesterday he was playing with his toy bus and when he moved it forward he made a vroom like car sound and when it reversed he started saying "beep, beep". Is it possible he really knows that big vehicles usually beep when they are backing up?

Friday, July 30, 2010

Yesterday we went to a Japanese Steak House with both sets of Grandparents, Mimi and Cody. Rylan was really interested until the fire part and then he wouldn't leave my lap! He really liked the food though! I kept putting chicken on his fork for him thinking he needed more until I realized that he wasn't finished chewing but was just stuffing more in!

Pictures from yesterday in the backyard!

I can't keep up!

Rylan has been learning so much lately that I haven't been able to keep up with writing it all down here so it is all going to be out of order in this post.

*He is starting to really make his own sentences. His favorites are "no daddy/mommy"

*When it is bed time, I tell him to go say "night, night" to daddy and he marches right upstairs and says "night, night daddy" and waves and blows kisses. It is so cute how he sometimes will walk away from him and then come back to wave and blow kisses some more!

*He has been hitting again. He seems to start hitting after hanging out with other kids that hit him. It is amazing how quickly he picks it back up again. Now he will hit me in the face when I am not paying enough attention to him then when I tell him "no, no!" he will reach out and hug, kiss and pat me gently and say "hi" haha he sure knows how to manipulate me!

*He has figured out the baby gate! We used to just be able to close it and not lock it. But just a couple days ago I realized he was really quiet while I was cooking dinner. I peeked around the corner and he was just sitting on the stairs right behind the gate (on the wrong side) grinning! So I started locking it! Well that didn't last long because he realized he could easily pull part of it out of the wall!

*Ever since he figured out how to close doors he has been obsessed with closing them all! If I pick him up out of bed and try to carry him out he will shout" dough, dough (door)" until I close the door to his room!

*We are starting to have to use "Time out" alot. It really works! I read somewhere to stay calm never get too emotional with him, just say "do you want time out?" 3 times then start to count to five if he still misbehaves put him in a corner and do not look at him. I am glad you are not supposed to look at him because that poor sad lip would make me give in I am sure of it!

* I have come to the realization that the dorkier the clothing the cuter it will look on rylan! Haha sweater vests, sandals, even sandals with socks, plaid shorts, polos with popped collars, bucket hats, preppy anything (that isn't always dorky, but always looks cuter on him than adults), water shoes, tight pajamas.

*He loves to sit in real cars and pretend to drive and wave "bye, bye".

*This morning he pointed at my wet hair wrapped up in a towel and said "towe? (towel)"

* He says "num, nummies and/or nummy when he is hungry or wants to eat something he sees"

* He is a very picky eater. It seems whenever I start to get really worried that he has been eating too much of bread, almond butter, crackers, cereal he will actually eat something healthy. He loves when Matt makes chicken noodle soup (with lots of veggies including kale) he won't eat it chunky, but if I puree it he will eat every last bit! He loves hummus too which makes me really happy! Mornings he will eat 8 grain hot cereal with some fruit mashed in, nancy's yogurt and some of his omega 3 oil (it is sweetened and delicious)

* He knows what I am telling him when I say that we need to get in the car to go pick up daddy from work. He will be about to escape into the street until I tell him that, then he will go climb in the car himself!

* He sings songs that he makes up in baby babble mixed with some words we understand. It absolutely melts my heart when he does that. OH IT IS CUUUTE!

* Ever since we moved into this place, we haven't had a tv downstairs which has been wonderful! We spend most of the day downstairs so he hardly watches tv! Except sometimes sid the science kid weekend mornings and sometimes monday since matt works from home. We all laze in bed and watch it together sometimes. He always has to be in between matt and I and get's very jealous if we snuggle at all. He says "no, no, and tries to hit or push me away from Matt"

* He loves to share, especially food. I don't think that he realizes that there isn't an endless supply of the food he gives away quite yet. I can't wait for that realization (insert sarcastic tone in my voice)

* He has definantly figured out that I am the sympathetic one. Whenever he get's in trouble with daddy he puts his sad face on for me . Or when he get's hurt he usually turns to me. I secretly love that :)

Okay well I am sure I forgotten to write a ton of really cute things! But I can't remember any more right now! I will try to get better at posting as soon as it happens!

Multi-tasking

Today Rylan grabbed my cell phone and held it up to his ear to have a conversation (in his language) and he walked around the room a little bit until he accidentally scrunched up a rug on the wood floor a little and he bent over to straighten it out while he was still talking on the phone!

New "home"

Yesterday we took Rylan over to Nana and Grandpa's house to watch him while we went on a date night. Whenever we drive over to their house I tell him that we are going to "Nana & Grandpa's house" because it is so cute to watch him get excited and look out the window in anticipation. I also tell him when we are going home because he get's excited about that too. He actually recognizes the the road a bit before our house now and say "home" in a really cute happy voice. It is a different voice than when he goes to Nana & Grandpa's voice. It is more of a calm relaxed cozy tone where as Nana and Grandpa's house tone is pure excitement and adventure!

Well this time when we arrived he threw up his hands the way that someone would announce something after a dun da da dunnn (drumroll) and said, "home!"

So now he has 2 "homes".

Already learning to drive!

Tonight while we were unloading the car after the Kirkland Wednesday Market Rylan hopped in the driver's side and started to pretend to drive while waving bye hehe I wish I would have gotten a picture!

Yam & Carrot Pasta

Rylan is a very picky eater, and he sometimes will seem to like something for a couple bites then stop or like it one day and not the next. I have a hard time feeding him as healthy as I would like, because if it were up to him he would just eat bread, almond butter, pasta and cheese. What seems to be the easiest thing is to sneak veggies into foods he already likes. I have to puree them to sneak them in because if I hide it enough for him to put it into his mouth, he will spit it out if he can! Here is a recipe that he has liked every time I have made it so far!

Boil flax rotilli pasta
Steam Carrots and Yams or Sweet Potatoes then puree them
Heat a skillet with 1 T coconut oil or olive oil and add some chopped yellow onions (a sweeter variety) approx 1 cup and let carmelize
Add minced garlic (I use approx 6 cloves or more)
Add another T of oil then 1T flour stir quickly then add approx 1 cup milk
Add grated cheese to taste (I used pepperjack)
Season with salt and pepper
When it is thickened and creamy add the puree and cook approx 2 mins to make sure it is warm.
Pour over pasta

Child Prodigy

So I know that this isn't new news, but Rylan is a child prodigy. There is absolutely no doubt about it. He is just smarter and cuter than all the other kids and I am not biased at all! ;)

Yesterday he kept amazing me with how much he knows that I didn't know he knew. Grandpa Greg told him to put something in the diaper bag and he went searching for the diaper bag, I have never told him to put anything in the diaper bag before! Nana told me that he actually has grabbed a diaper out of the bag when he needed his changed and laid down where he usually has it changed one time. That is absolutely shocking to me since he usually makes me chase him around and kicks while I try to change him haha! I guess it is the grandparent's touch. Out of the blue he tugged at his feet and said "feet" the only time I tell him what his feet are is sometimes when I put on his socks but I really didn't think he was catching on. Amazing. I have noticed in the last couple days he has started to get very imaginative with his play. He always is pretty imaginative but it seems to me he has reached a new level. Today he waved bye bye to me and then got in his car outside and started steering the steering wheel, then after a period of time stopped got out and said "hi!" and ran to me like he had been gone for awhile. So adorable!
Oh and here is a story perfect for embarassing him when he get's older! For quite some time he has been really jealous of Matt and I together. Every chance he get's he tries to squeeze in between us and if he can't shreiks and just started pushing us apart or hitting me and telling me no,no. But now we are realizing that we might need to hide when we kiss in front of him because he has been trying to kiss me for much longer periods of time now, he even shifts his head side to side and has a serious face the whole time. The other day he did it to Nana too! Haha he got up on top of her on the lovesac and basically tried to make out with her! haha it is so cute but we don't want him to do it to anyone else or in public or anything hehe!
Grandpa Greg taught him how to motion over "come here" without knowing it! For the last couple days Rylan has been motioning and saying "mon" to get us to follow him! It is adorable to see how proud of himself he is when he learns a new way to communicate!

More new words and more time outside!

This morning rylan put his hand on my forehead and said "head". And when he saw a toy stuck in a spot he couldn't get it at he shouted "out, out, out!"

Today was beautiful and sunny so we were outside most of the day! I even pulled his highchair out there to eat! When we went inside for a little bit Rylan went and got his shoes and socks so I put them on then he got me my walking shoes. I told him I needed socks first and he went to a huge pile of clean laundry and dug through until he found 2 of my socks!

He just has me constantly in awe!

Tomorrow we are going to see Auntie Agatha (she is actually his godmom) it's super exciting because she moved to California and is making time for us while she is here just for the weekend! I can't wait!

Whoa just now as I was typing about Agatha Rylan said "bye, bye" instead of "dye dye"! He really wants to go "bye, bye" on an evening walk! So I guess we better get going!

28.6 lbs!

After the last post, I gave Rylan a bath, but before getting in the tub he watched me stand on the scale in the bathroom and then without any clothes on stood on the scale just like I did! So now I know he is 28.6lbs!

Here are some pictures from tonights bathtime, I went a little crazy with the camera as usual...

Such a little BOY not a baby :(

Today Rylan went into the bathroom and grabbed a fresh roll of toilet paper, teared a piece off and started to wipe the (wood) floor in the kitchen. Then with the same piece of toilet paper blew his nose (nothing came out) and then crumpled it up and put it in the garbage. I had no idea he knew the correlation between all those things! He amazes me pretty much every second! He also all the sudden knows where my cheek and hair is and he pulled my hand to his mouth to kiss it and actually said "hand" so sweet!

He was reading a book with Nana today (actually he started calling her nani or noanie). In a book with lots of different pictures of all kinds of things she asked him to point out "horsie" and he did! Then "helicopter" & "bike", and he did! It's hard to comprehend all that he knows right now!

He is always watching me carefully, trying to figure out how to do everything that I am doing! Scarey, I already have to be a good example!

Oh and the tantrums, he has those down! The high pitched scream is almost unbearable! Sometimes the tantrums are cute though. Today he went with Nana to go get her tire changed and in the waiting room they had some big legos and a table with chairs. He sat and played very calmly for awhile then grabbed a lego that wouldn't fit on top of the other legos he already stacked, he tried for a few seconds and when it fell he got upset and threw everything off the table! Nana got it all on her camera phone! So funny!

Sweet Potato Dump Truck

So I let Rylan have his toy dump truck while he was eating dinner and this is what happened...

Know X3

Know X3 = he Knows more than we Know he Knows!

So I already told you about how he has been throwing things in the garbage. Well I didn't know that he knows that the garbage can is called garbage. But sure enough today, I tell him to put something into the garbage and he trots right over to the garbage and puts it in without any hesitation! I didn't even have to point! We were awe-struck!

Last night I made him a bottle (he counts with the microwave as it is heating it up so precious!) and told him that it was "night, night" and we needed to say "night, night" to daddy. He ran up the stairs to daddy (he doesn't always actually say it, but we know he understands what is going on) and as I went to grab him he screams to daddy, "up, up, up, uuuuup" so Matt picked him up and hugged him then held him out to me and Rylan said, "oh no!" haha! But then I went and laid him down and he went down like a perfect angel!

Little Helper!

Rylan learned very quickly that little things that he finds on the ground go to mommy or Daddy, not in his mouth. He probably learned it alot earlier than other kids because of my jewelry making and the possibility of him finding something lost in the floor that could be really bad for him to swallow is alot higher than for most kids, so we have been very good about giving him ample encouragement when he hands little things he finds to me or Daddy. Sometimes it is just a fuzz ball and sometimes a bead or worse. Either way, I am very thankful that he feels proud to hand it to me! Funny thing that he is just starting to try and figure out is what I do with those things after he hands them to me. He watches very carefully and he has now figured out most things go in the garbage and some in my pocket. He puts paper things in the garbage and the other day he put his dirty diaper in the garbage.

A couple days ago I worked really hard, (mostly while Rylan was napping) on fixing up our backyard. I made a flower bed by the fence in the corner and flattened out the part of our yard that was indented and sloping because of my dad's golf net and mats that he moved to their new place. I dug up lots of rocks and pine cones were everywhere. When Rylan woke up I put out a bucket for collecting rocks and another for pine cones. I showed him where each goes and he amazed me by immediately understanding completely! He would pick up both pine cones and rocks then sort them at the buckets! He was so excited to help, it was absolutely adorable.

He recently figured out the relation between shoes, jacket & clothes and going outside. When he wants go outside he will bring me his shoes, my shoes, his jacket, my jacket. It is irresistably cute, I just have to take him outside when he does it. Luckily we have a backyard now, so it is easy to do!

We have been going for alot more walks since we moved and he loves them! If we leave the stroller open, he will constantly climbs up into it. He even closes the tray over his legs, which is kinda hard to do. He is also figuring out how seatbelt's latch and get's angry when we don't let him do it himself (even though he cane't do it himself yet!

After his bath I always wrap him up in a towel which reminds me of when he was a little baby that needed to be swaddled. I realized the last couple times that I say he is my little baby whenever I wrap him up and carry him because now when I wrap him up he immediately says "baaaby" and smiles :)

He is all about climbing lately! He hasn't figured out how to climb out of his crib yet, but he likes to climb on top of things to get to light switches and tables. He easily climbs up on the coffee table, chairs, the couch & the bed. He actually learned how to climb a medium size ladder the other day when Grandpa Greg was watching him! Oh that reminds me I wanted to note some cute things about Grandpa Greg (my Dad) and him! One cute thing I wanted to be sure to tell Rylan is how Grandpa Greg calls the coffee table Rylan's science lab because he puts all his toys on it and figures out how it all works. Nana didn't think it was necessary for them to get a coffee table and Grandpa Greg insisted they needed one for the play room because Rylan needs a science lab at their house too!
Another cute thing about them is that Rylan loves going in Granpas big truck and looking at all the tools. And a few times when grandpa has been over picking up more of his stuff from the garage he let's Rylan hang out with him. Well I came in to check on them one day and Grandpa had sat Rylan on an upside down bucket and grandpa was sitting on a box and they were both drinking their water. Grandpa was saying, "After all that work we need to have our water break, this is our water break". Hehe that just melted my heart! I ran to get my camera but couldn't get there in time (of course!)

For a few months he has been saying what sounds like "hi-yo" and it just dawned on Matt a couple weeks ago that he is trying to say "Hello". So cute!

Early Entry to the Terrible 2's!

Last week we decided to go out to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner with Rylan. Usually he is an angel wherever we take him but lately it seems like he might have started becoming a terrible 2 yr old early! First he did something that was bratty/cute that I have never seen him do before. When they brought him a plate with his own bread and some banana slices they set it kinda far from him so that he couldn't reach it all that well so Matt pushed the plate towards him so that he could reach it better. Well in a quick jerky movement he pushed it right back where it was. Well then Matt thought, maybe he didn't get that he was trying to help him so he slowly pushed it back closer again trying to explain (in case he might understand a little). And Rylan looked at him with this really funny kinda irritated look and stared at him while he pushed it back again. It was like he was saying," I want it there. don't you dare touch it again!". Well we thought that was just so cute until about 20 mins later when he started getting a little fussy so I got out his little mini etch a sketch so that he had something to do. Well he had a little tantrum with it and flung it behind him so far that it actually went halfway under a booth that some people were sitting at (that place was packed)! SO EMBARASSING! What are we gunna do with this kid?

NEW WORDS:

potty
oopsy

Last night Rylan really freaked me out when his cold that he has had for 2 weeks turned into a fever! The highest fever you have ever had 103.8! I called his doctor's e-pager at 9:58 pm and she calmed me down and told me to put cold wet socks on his feet to bring his temp down as well as put him in the bathroom with a hot shower going to get his stuffy nose cleared up. It worked woohoo!

Shoes!

Wearing my shoes today!

Rylan has known how to say the word "shoes" for awhile now. Oh I wish I could type how it sounds when he says it, but unfortunately I think that you have to hear it to really understand the adorable-ness. We think the reason he learned the word so quickly is because he needs to have his shoes on to go outside. And outside is pretty much THE coolest thing ever when you are a kid right? Well especially now that we actually have a little yard and when it rains there are a few puddles that he can splash around in. And since I started gardening, one of Rylan's absolute favorite things to do is ungarden! And then there are all the boards in the backyard that are for finishing the remodel, my dad built a little balance beam course for him that he absolutely loved. He laid four long boards ontop of a rock to make 4 little ramps for Rylan to balance on. Definantly something I wouldn't have thought of (it seems kinda dangerous) but I am glad my Dad did!

Held my hand from the stroller on our walk!

We just got back from an evening walk a little bit ago and Rylan did something that just melted my heart! We Matt was pushing him in the stroller and I was walking next to them, he reached out for my hand and held on tight to one of my fingers for at least 5 mins of the walk. What a lovable boy :)

Then when we got home he was so proud of himself when he climbed back into his stroller after I took him out when the breaks weren't on then put the tray back up over his legs. He has just the cutest proud of himself grin!

Helped Clean Up Spilled Milk!

Today Rylan learned how fun it is to tip his Tippy cups upside down and make designs on the floor with his milk. When I told him to stop, he gave me his usual scowl that seems to mean "why are you always ruining all my fun mom?"I started to clean up the mess with a towel but it quickly started filling up and soon was sopping, I ran over to the laundry room to grab another towel, and when I got back, Rylan was trying to keep cleaning up his mess with the sopping wet towel! I swear there isn't a second that he doesn't get smarter!
